A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo traçar um panorama sobre a CUT a partir da seguinte pergunta: como se orientaram as ações da CUT sobre as questões de gênero durante os governos do PT? Trata-se, portanto, de um estudo de caráter exploratório que se justifica pela importância da central no panorama sindical brasileiro e pelas mudanças substanciais nas suas relações com os governos do período. Partimos da hipótese de que essas relações resultaram na ação da central marcada fortemente pelo aspecto institucional e um sindicalismo propositivo. Em nossa avaliação, a conjuntura favorável, durante o período de crescimento econômico no país, propiciou a ampliação da luta reivindicativa. A pesquisa foi conduzida por meio da revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema, entrevistas com roteiro de questões semidirigidas com sindicalistas de diversos ramos da central e por meio de pesquisa documental dos congressos nacionais da CUT e de materiais específicos da Secretaria da Mulher Trabalhadora.

The current research has the objective to draw a panoramic view about CUT (Unique Central of Workers, referred as Central) starting from the following question: how CUT's actions have been oriented on gender during PT's (Worker's party) government periods? This research is, therefore, an exploratory character study justified by the importance of Central in Brazil's unions panorama and because of the substantial relationship changes with the government of that period. It is started from the hypothesis that these relationships provoked changes in Central's action aspects, strongly marked by institutional action and propositional claiming. In our assessment, the favourable conjuncture, during the country's economic growth period, provided the expansion of the fight for demands. The research was conducted by bibliographic revision of the theme, scripted interviews with open questions with unionist from several branches of Central and through documental research of CUT's national's congresses and specific materials from Secretaria da Mulher Trabalhadora (Worker women secretary).
