Monolitos, torres, pirâmides, templos e catedrais no capítulo sobre a arquitetura de seus Cursos de Estét ica Hegel aborda este gênero artístico em seus três momentos que correspondem aos estágios da arquitetura simbólica do mundo oriental antigo, à arquitetura clássica dos gregos e romanos e à arquitetura romântica do gótico. S ob qual princípio se organizam estes fenômenos arquitetônicos à primeira vista tão heterogêneos e que escapam a uma sistematização da história da arte ? A presente tese pretende mostrar que, junto ao pressuposto da estética hegeliana de que a arte é uma expressão do espírito e neste sentido se orienta por uma crescente idealidade, a arquitetura enquanto arte primeira ainda está ligada ao domínio da natureza, da materialidade, cuja figura ulterior é o espaço. A arquitetura em seus três estágios pode ser então compreendida à luz do conceito de espaço que é, à sua vez, um conceito da filosofia da natureza e da estética

Monoliths, towers, pyramids, temples and cathedrals in the chapter on architecture of his Aesthetics Hegel approaches this artistic genre in its three moments that correspond to the symbolic architecture of the ancient oriental world, the classical architecture of the Greeks and Romans and the romantic architecture of the Gothic. Under what principle are these architectural phenomena, at first sight so heterogeneous and that escape a systematization of the history of art, organized? The present thesis intends to show that, together with the assumption of the Hegelian aesthetic that art is an expression of the spirit and in this sense, it is guided by a growing ideality, architecture as a first art is still linked to the domain of nature, of materiality, whose figure later is space.
