Esta pesquisa visa a analisar diferentes utilizações do termo "revolução" e de seus cognatos por parte de diversos atores sociais chineses em suas narrações, interpretações e avaliações da Revolução Cultural que ocorreu na China entre 1966 e 1976. A pesquisa pretende examinar os diferentes significados que tais atores atribuíram a esse termo e a seus cognatos, as temporalidades que esses significados supunham e ajudaram a produzir, e os possíveis efeitos políticos dessas práticas semânticas para legitimar, aceitar, ou contestar o regime maoísta. A metodologia utilizada consistirá na interpretação e análise de livros, discursos políticos, imagens visuais e testemunhos de diversos agentes sociais, mobilizados politicamente ou não, que apresentam diferentes visões políticas sobre a Revolução Cultural. O projeto se insere no campo da antropologia do tempo e da história, e busca discutir em um caso empírico a relação entre temporalidade, narrativas históricas, e poder político

This research aims to analyze different uses of the term "revolution" and its cognates by different Chinese social actors in their narrations, interpretations and evaluations of the Cultural Revolution that took place in China between 1966 and 1976. The research intends to examine the different meanings that these actors attributed to this term and its cognates, the temporalities that these meanings assumed and helped to produce, and the possible political effects of these semantic practices to legitimize, accept, or contest the Maoist regime. The methodology used will consist of the interpretation and analysis of books, political speeches, visual images and testimonies of various social agents, whether politically mobilized or not, who present different political views on the Cultural Revolution. The project is inserted in the field of anthropology of time and history, and seeks to discuss in an empirical case the relationship between temporality, historical narratives, and political power
