Abstract in English
This text seeks to recover the Kaingáng history in the Tibagi river sorroundings from the second half of last century through current events. This history allows one to perceive strategies, ways and contents on the relationships between indian societies and settlers, as a continuous revelation of their particular caracteristics. Such rescue for historical and ethnical features of the Kaingáng leads to a different understanding of the paranaense society and the true nature of the settlement process in the indian territories during this century. The main source for such an endeavor have been documents by missionaries, directors and travellers, documents from SPI, FUNAI, and other institutions, statements by older Kaingáng members, and our own field research and available bibliography on Jê meridional societies.
