Abstract in English
Planation Surfaces have been a recurring subject in Brazilian geomorphology since the 1930 decade, has appeared in scientific papers written since 1915. During the 1990 years, the theme appears in a new bibliography, from knowledge of Neotectonics, for example. Due to the importance of the subject for interpretation of the Brazilian landscape evolution, this paper proposes to analyse planation surfaces Evolution in Brazil, between 1930 and 1970. different proposals and classic conceptions about such surfaces in Brazil. The Davisian influence with Geographical Cycle apparently predominated until the mid-1950s, for example in Rego (1933), James (1946) and Freitas (1951). With the King's paper (1956), a new conception is exposed, based on the concepts of Pediplanation and Pedimentation. During the 1960s, such studies were deepened, modified and complemented with the issues of climate change over geological time and its morphogenetic consequences (for example, BIGARELLA; MOUSINHO; SILVA, 1965; CHRISTOFOLETTI; QUEIROZ NETO, 1961 and others), culminating in 1970 with the Oscar Braun's paper. Therefore, the analysis of these articles results in the conclusion that changed the interpretation of the Planation Surfaces genesis in Brazil, as well as the relative complexity of the explanations.
