Lucas do Rio Verde é um dos municípios que sediam a cadeia carne/grãos da BR- 163, uma das principais vias de escoamento da produção de soja em Mato Grosso. A partir dos anos 2000 com a entrada da BRF no município, agricultura e indústria uniram-se fortemente em um processo produtivo, que verticalizou e diversificou a produção. Com um modelo técnico produtivo fundamentado em técnica, ciência e informação, empresas de porte foram atraídas pelas possibilidades de novas escalas de produção e proximidade de matérias-primas. Assim, o objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi analisar o trabalho formal e sua precarização no setor de abate e frigoríficos do segmento avícola da cadeia produtiva carne/grãos na busca por entendê-la no seu funcionamento no Brasil a partir do caso de Lucas do Rio Verde nos anos 2000. As mudanças no trabalho foram articuladas ao nível técnico em um contexto em que se instituíram incrementos de processos migratórios e novas relações de trabalho. Na investigação, as principais fontes de dados foram IBGE, RAIS e dados de trabalhos de campo com destaque para as entrevistas realizadas com trabalhadores da BRF. Trabalho, técnica e espaço foram conceitos essenciais para a análise em um contexto em que a avaliação dos circuitos espaciais de produção e dos círculos de cooperação assumiu fundamental importância. Para isto, embasados, sobretudo, em Milton Santos, utilizamos autores como Júlia Adão Bernardes, Ricardo Castillo, Ricardo Antunes, André Gorz, Richard Sennett e Guy Standing. As reorganizações espaciais alteraram significativamente a vida na cidade, trazendo benefícios e prejuízos aos trabalhadores migrantes advindos do Nordeste ou do Norte, que, em geral, atuam como operadores de produção da BRF, compondo a massa empregada no setor. Em seus movimentos repetitivos e rápidos, trabalham como máquinas, que precisam alcançar altos níveis de produtividade em curto tempo. Uma busca pelo lucro que, na maioria das vezes, acaba por ignorar e invisibilizar o trabalho e o trabalhador em sua humanidade. Ainda assim, estratégias de organização, resistência e luta têm sido instauradas pelo estabelecimento de contra-racionalidades capazes de garantir a sobrevivência mínima dos trabalhadores. Entretanto, em um quadro de resistência diária, as estratégias do Capital, mais rápidas e poderosas, sobrepujam-se aos trabalhadores. Os trabalhadores, na maioria das vezes, ainda perdem mais do que ganham, mas prosseguem em uma atuação quase invisível de resistência em uma complexa teia de relações, na qual vivem sentimentos opostos, que vão desde o encontro de um eldorado às agruras diárias do trabalho e da vida em um não-lugar.

Lucas do Rio Verde is one of the municipalities that hosts the meat/grain chain of the Brazilian federal highway (BRF) BR-163, one of the main flow routes of the soybean production of Mato Grosso state (Brazil). Since the arrival of the BRF at the municipality, industry and agriculture got strongly together in a productive process that verticalized and diversified the production. With a technical-productive model based on technic, science and information, large companies were attracted to the region because of the proximity to the raw materials and therefore the possibility to scale up the production. The main goal of the present thesis is to analyze the formal work and its precariousness regarding the poultry slaughterhouses and processing facilities at the actual productive chain in an attempt to understand how it works, as well as to link the changes in work to the implemented technical-productive standard, also to the spatial reorganizations at the municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde since the year 2000. Those changes were articulated at the technical level that induced migration and new labor relationships. The main data for the present research were obtained from institutional sources (IBGE and RAIS) and field work, highlighting the interviews with workers of the BRF. Work, techniques and space were essential concepts to the analyses in a relevant context of evaluation of the spatial circuits of production and the cooperation circles. Hence, the investigation has a background on authors, such as Milton Santos, Júlia Adão Bernardes, Ricardo Castillo, Ricardo Antunes, André Gorz, Richard Sennett and Guy Standing. The spatial reorganizations altered significantly the life in the municipality, bringing benefits and losses to the immigrant workers from Northeastern or Northern of Brazil, that are the main labor force of the BRF, composing the employed class in this sector. They work as machines doing fast and repetitive movements to reach high productivity in short time. The search for profit mostly underlies the work and the workers in their humanity. Nevertheless, strategies of organization, resistance and fight have been initiated through the establishment of counter-rationalities that guarantee the minimal survival of the workers. However, the strong and fast strategies of Capital outweigh a daily framework of struggle. Most of the time, the workers lose more than win but move forward in an almost invisible resistance in a complex network which prompt to opposing feelings, from the El Dorado to the daily roughness of the work and life in a place they do not belong.
