Esta pesquisa visa analisar o lugar, os posicionamentos e as representações de masculinidades homoeróticas da revista Spartacus (1987-1990). Trata-se de uma publicação voltada, sobretudo, para homens interessados em ter relações com outros homens, e que veiculou em uma época com complexas questões políticas, sociais e econômicas no país. Neste contexto, ocorreu uma epidemia de HIV/Aids em âmbito global, o que fez muitos homossexuais mudarem de hábitos e evitarem se expor devido aos preconceitos e violências passíveis de sofrerem. Neste cenário, pautas sociais conquistaram legitimidade em meio à Constituição de 1988, e diversos grupos se transformaram em organizações não-governamentais, negociando com o setor público e entidades internacionais formas de financiamento para suas ações. Junto a isso, um mercado de lazer e entretenimento especializado surgia voltado aos homossexuais. Desta forma, este estudo busca identificar quais estratégias Spartacus utilizou para captar recursos, criar conteúdos e distribuir suas edições em um momento no qual foram produzidos determinados estilos de vida simultaneamente ao fato de parte dos homossexuais adotarem uma postura "discreta" na sociedade. Os objetivos consistem em observar as opiniões emitidas em Spartacus a respeito das políticas da época, as sugestões de lugares a serem frequentados, bem como as principais características enaltecidas nos ensaios dos modelos divulgados na revista e nas correspondências enviadas por seus leitores. O intuito é entender quais aspectos eram mais "valorizados" na publicação, e de que modo isso se relacionou ao crescimento de mercados e "padrões" de representações de masculinidades e homossexualidades difundidos em âmbito global. Para isso, a pesquisa utiliza os aportes teórico-metodológicos da História da Imprensa, História do Tempo Presente, e História das Relações de Gênero.

This research analyzes the place, positions and representations of homoerotic masculinities in the magazine Spartacus (1987-1990). It is a concern thought out, above all, for men interested in having relationships with other men, and that conveyed in a time with complex political, social and discouraging issues in the country. In this context, there was a global HIV/AIDS epidemic, which made many homosexuals change their habits and avoid exposing themselves due to the prejudice and violence they might suffer. In this scenario, the social guidelines conquered and remained in the midst of the 1988 Constitution, and several groups became non-governmental organizations, negotiating with the public sector and international entities ways of financing their actions. Along with this, a leisure and entertainment market specializing in surgery aimed at homosexuals. In this way, this study seeks to identify which strategies Spartacus used to raise funds, create content and distribute its editions at a time when certain lifestyles were produced simultaneously with the fact that part of homosexuals adopted a "discreet" posture in society. The objectives are to observe private opinions in Spartacus regarding the policies of the time, such as suggestions of places to be frequented, as well as the main characteristics praised in the tests of the models published in the magazine and in the correspondence sent by its readers. The intention is to understand which aspects were most "valued" in the publication, and how this was related to the growth of markets and "patterns" of representations of masculinity and homosexuality spread globally. For this, a research uses the theoretical-methodological sports of the History of the Press, History of the Present Time and History of Gender Relations.
