Este trabalho tem como objetivo central analisar o tema da arte na América Latina suas relações com a cultura, a política e as circulações em diferentes espaços urbanos, durante a segunda metade do século XX. Para isso, toma-se como referência principal as produções intelectuais de Marta Traba e Aracy Amaral, especialmente os ensaios e artigos sobre arte latino-americana, escritos entre as décadas de 1960 e 1980. Além disso, pretende-se investigar como a temática e as produções estiveram conectadas aos contextos históricos que marcaram a região naquela época, tais como a aproximação entre os países latino-americanos, as questões das identidades e alteridades, a Guerra-Fria e o impacto da cultura norte-americana na região. Supõe-se que no período houve um significativo interesse pelo conhecimento e afirmação do campo artístico da América Latina, por meio de um viés crítico e pela aproximação cultural entre os países latino-americanos. Nesse sentido, as intelectuais estudadas refletiram sobre a importância de se pensar a América Latina e suas artes, estabelecendo diálogos, percebendo os seus problemas e estimulando o trânsito de ideias afins no sul do continente.

The main objective of this work is to analyze the theme of art in Latin America and its relations with culture, politics and circulations in different urban spaces during the second half of the 20th century. For this, the intellectual productions of Marta Traba and Aracy Amaral are taken as the main reference, especially the essays and articles on Latin American art, written between the 1960s and 1980s. The productions were connected to the historical contexts that marked the region at that time, such as the approximation between Latin American countries, the issues of identities and alterities, the Cold War, the impact of North American culture in the region. It is assumed that in the period, there was a significant interest in the knowledge and affirmation of the artistic field of Latin America, through a critical bias and the cultural approximation among Latin American countries. In this sense, the intellectuals studied reflected on the importance of thinking about Latin America and its arts, establishing dialogues, realizing their problems and stimulating the transit of similar ideas in the south of the continent.
