Um den deutschen Barock zu verstehen, beginnen wir mit einer Erklärung de sozio-kulturellen und politischen Voraussetungen, die zum Dreissigjährigen Krieg führten und ihre Beziehung zu dem wichtigsten Dichter der Zeit, Andreas Gryphius. Ausserdem wird das Werk des Dichters im Hinblick auf das Repräsentationsmodell im 17. Jahrhundert untersucht, insbesondere seine Sonette.
