Abstract in English
This thesis aims to study some aspects of the relationship between the images of poet and reader in Charles Baudelaire's prose poems. These texts were published in journals and magazines by the author and later gathered, organized and edited after his death, in a volume entitled Petits poèmes en prose (1869). When faced with these poems, the reader is confronted with a dubious, ambivalent sensation, in which the search for meanings seems to be constantly elusive, oscillating between the paradoxes and contradictions displayed by the poetic discourse. To address this relation with the Baudelaire's text, we initially investigated the complex editorial history of these prose poems, which contributes to keep the act of reading in a place between the circumstantial nature of the press and the unity of the book. Building upon the dialogue between traditional criticism and the research dedicated mainly to the writings of the poets last decade, considering their fragmentation, incompleteness and uncertainties, we seek, then, to explore the construction of the images of poet and reader in some of the prose poems, attempting to understand their mobility and instability. Finally, we observe some of the lines that compose the relation between the two figures, examining the how provocation and irony are merged in the discourse. The idea is to suggest some entries into the ambiguous relationship, made by mirroring and displacement, between tenderness and enmity, established with the other in Baudelaire's prose poems
