Abstract in English
This thesis discusses, from the start, the concept of poetry, the specificiness of its translation and the possibilities concerning the analysis of poems, so it can, based on these considerations, examine translation fragments of the Homero epics to the Portuguese language made by Manuel Odorico Mendes, Carlos Alberto Nunes and Haroldo de Campos, and consider their conception around translation activity. From the works studied, this paperseeks the identification of distinct methodological models to poetic recriation and presents, at the end, a proposal of the epic poetry method of translation that involves a rhytmic conception based on the possibilities of the adaptation, into Portuguese, of the hexametric pattern of greek-latin poetry.
