A pesquisa apresenta e analisa, em primeira instância, o acervo de narrativas da tradição oral de Moçambique, recolhido durante a Campanha de Preservação e Valorização do Patrimônio Cultural, realizada de 1978 a 1983, e que compõe o Arquivo do Patrimônio Cultural de Moçambique (ARPAC). O trabalho consiste na investigação dos inquéritos por meio de um banco de dados. A análise quantitativa e qualitativa dos elementos narrativos dos relatos é organizada em temas como mitologia, linguagens, história e sociedades. Para tal, a tese compara as recolhas da Campanha com narrativas de antologias publicadas em Moçambique e com bibliografias teóricas sobre o país africano.

The research presents and analyzes, in the first instance, the collection of narratives from the oral tradition of Mozambique, collected during the Campaign for the Preservation and Enhancement of Cultural Heritage, carried out from 1978 to 1983, and which makes up the Archive of Cultural Heritage of Mozambique (ARPAC). The work consists of investigating the surveys through a database. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of the narrative elements of the reports is organized into themes such as mythology, languages, history and societies. To this end, the thesis compares the Campaign's collections with narratives from anthologies published in Mozambique and with theoretical bibliographies on the African country.
