Marie-Catherine Le Jumel de Barneville, Madame d'Aulnoy (1652-1705), é comumente referenciada como autora do primeiro conto de fadas literário de que se tem notícia ("A Ilha da Felicidade", de 1690) e responsável pela atribuição do título "conto de fadas" (conte des fées) a um determinado tipo de narrativa de natureza fantasista que esteve em voga na França do século XVII. Contudo, apesar de sua relevância para a história da literatura ocidental, a vida e as obras Madame d'Aulnoy permaneceram praticamente desconhecidas no Brasil até meados do século XXI. A presente tese de doutorado se propõe a resgatar a memória da referida autora a partir do estabelecimento de um esboço de biografia e da tradução integral de seus vinte e quatro contos de fadas para o português brasileiro. A partir da revisitação da história da formação da ciência moderna, alia-se a potência da criação artística à expansão do imaginário cósmico advinda dos avanços da astronomia seiscentista e propõe-se o exame dos possíveis limiares interpenetrativos existentes entre a lógica e a fantasia especulativa. Ademais, conjugando contribuições teóricas da literatura comparada ( CARV ALHAL, 2006; NITRINI, 2021), da teoria literária (BOTTIGHEIMER, 2002; COELHO, 2016; ZIPES, 2021), da história da literatura (CHARTIER, 2004; DEJEAN, 2005) e danarratologia estrutural (BAL, 2021; DORFMAN, 1969), propõe-se o uso do termo "conto de fadas stricto sensu" em referência aos contos de Madame d'Aulnoy, visto a possibilidade de serem admitidos como "contos sobre fadas". Por fim, levanta-se vinte e um princípios composicionais até então concebidos como exclusivos da poética de d'Aulnoy, sobretudo em comparação com os contos de Charles Perrault (1628-1703), seu contemporâneo

Marie-Catherine Le Jumel de Barneville, Madame d'Aulnoy (1652-1705), is commonly referred as the author of the first known literary fairy tale ("The Island of Happiness", 1690) and responsible for the attribution of the title "fairy tale" (conte des Jées) to a certain type of fantasy narrative that was in vogue in 17th century France. However, despite her relevance to the history of Western literature, Madame d'Aulnoy's life and works remained virtually unknown in Brazil until the mid-21st century. The present doctoral thesis proposes to rescue the memory o f the author with the establishment o f a biography sketch and the full translation of her twenty-four fairy tales into Brazilian Portuguese. Revisiting the history of the formation of modem science, the power of artistic creation is here combined with the expansion o f the cosmic imaginary arising from the advances of 17th century astronomy, proposing the existence of interpenetrative thresholds between logic and speculative fantasy. Furthermore, combining theoretical contributions from comparative literature (CARVALHAL, 2006; NITRINI, 2021;), literary theory (BOTTIGHEIMER, 2002; COELHO, 2016; ZIPES, 2021), history of literature (CHARTIER, 2004; DEJEAN, 2005) and structural narratology (BAL, 2021; DORFMAN, 1969), it is proposed the use of the term "stricto sensu fairy tale" in reference to Madame d' Aulnoy's tales, given the possibility o f being admitted as "tales about fairies". Finally, twenty-one compositional principies are raised and conceived as exclusive to d' Aulnoy' s poetics, especially in comparison with the tales of Charles Perrault (1628-1703), her contemporary
