Abstract in English
This thesis presents: (1) a study of the works written by the North American poet Hart Crane (1899-1932); (2) a theoretical reflection on literary translation (based on the works by Antoine Berman, Henri Meschonnic, Gérard Genette, Friedrich Schleiermacher, Haroldo de Campos, Paulo Henriques Britto, Mário Laranjeira and Álvaro Faleiros); and (3) translations of fifteen poems written by the author. The objectives of this work are to interpret the complexity of Crane's works, highlight the importance of translating them (for the translations which have already been done are scarce), and propose, as a sample of the author's writing moments, translations of the above-mentioned fifteen poems.
