Keywords in Portuguese
Compósito
lama de bauxita
poli (metacrilato de metila)

Abstract in English
The work refers to the development of formulations of poly (methyl metacrylate) (PMMA) and red mud from Bayer process. The adhesion between PMMA and the filler was achieved in the experimental concentration range (10-70%), showing progressive increase of mechanical properties as flexion resistance and modulus. Other mechanical properties are compatible with service life of solid surfaces. The results of thermal stability indicated that formulation with red mud high content (70%) are similar to the standart. Citotoxicity tests revealed no toxicity of the materials in the test conditions.
