Abstract in English
The search to manufacture increasingly sustainable and safe vehicles, due to the crisis in natural resources and the concern with vehicle safety, has increased the use of new materials and methods of forming and joining body components. The properties of the B-pillar determine the safety of the passengers in a lateral collision. The B-pillar is made up of different materials, and therefore requires a repair technique of the same quality as that used by the manufacturers. Thus, the objective of this work is to perform the mechanical characterization of the joint between 22MnB5 steel hardened in hot stamping and CR4 steel, by MIG brazing with addition of Cu-Si wire and argon shielding gas. The materials used were, Al-Si coated 22MnB5 steel samples and zinc coated CR4 steel samples. The joining was performed from two specimen designs, named regular circular hole and regular oblong hole. The tests performed (Vickers hardness, metallography and traction), conform to the AWS A5 C3. 3-2008. The results obtained showed a drop in the mechanical resistance in the heat affected zone of the 22MnB5 steel and it is suggested problems in the reheating of the region that presented changes in the microstructure. However in the tensile test with the digital image correlation (DIC) technique, crack propagation and fractures occurred in the CR4 base material.
