Abstract in English
This is a study of the practices of life of Caiçaras who lived in Praia Grande da Cajaíba and moved to new homes in Paraty. The analysis starts from the viewpoint of the activities that define the Caiçara culture. Activities like fishing, farming, forest extractivism, crafts and special relations of sociability were taken as reference of the Caiçara culture. The objective is to analyze which of these remain, are broken and / or transformed. The causes of displacement include factors of expulsion and attraction. Four households were used as a basis for understanding these relationships: a family in rural area, a family in the coastal area and two families in the urban area. It is questioned: is there territorialization, in accordance with the source Caiçaras practices, considering the hypothesis that the practices related to the original territory are reworked and rebuilt after migration? It was found that there are different degrees of control of the new space that vary according to the displacement history of each family, and the decision for a particular destination. The common thread that characterizes a pattern in the new locations is the predominant role of the family element as an aggregating factor.
