Assume-se, nesta sistematização crítica da atividade de ensino e pesquisa em paisagismo, a posição de que a noção de paisagem é constitutiva do humano tanto quanto o são o espaço e o tempo, embora ela se apresente com uma espacialidade e uma temporalidade próprias. A especificidade do espaço e do tempo da paisagem se deve a seus vín¬culos inextricáveis com a natureza da Terra. Para sustentar essa posição, que relativiza o ponto de vista de ser a paisagem uma invenção da moderni¬dade, invocam-se autores que, explícita ou impli¬citamente, defendem ou sugerem a indissociabili¬dade entre natureza e paisagem, e a ancestralidade dos valores estéticos associados à natureza (paisa¬gem). Tal posicionamento tem reflexos diretos na pesquisa e no ensino de paisagismo em escolas de arquitetura e urbanismo, pois dele decorrem tanto a delimitação do próprio objeto ao qual se voltam o ensino e a pesquisa, quanto a dúvida crucial, para a arquitetura e o urbanismo, sobre a possibilidade ou não de ocorrer experiência de paisagem no meio urbano contemporâneo já que, presumidamen¬te, nele se consuma o total apagamento da natu-reza. Aposta-se, aqui, na resposta afirmativa com base na hipótese de que a Terra (a natureza) não cessa de se manifestar e de nos afetar em termos existenciais e estéticos, mesmo nas situações mais improváveis. Tal hipótese se respalda na pesquisa sobre córregos ocultos em São Paulo e seus vestí¬gios, que vem sendo levada a efeito, desde 2003, no âmbito do Laboratório Paisagem, Arte e Cultura – Labparc, da Fau-Usp. Se, apesar de obliterada, a natureza emite sinais que nos tocam, cabe dar¬-lhes expressão paisagística, mesmo em condições adversas. Para que essas expressões não se limitem a simulacros e estereótipos, propõe-se recuperar o frescor das primeiras manifestações, recorrendo às instigações poéticas da imaginação material.

In this critical systematization we assume that the notion of landscape is constitutive of the human being as much as space and time are, al¬though it presents itself with its own spatiality and temporality. The specificity of space and time in the landscape is due to its inextricable links with the nature of the Earth. To support this po¬sition, which relativizes the viewpoint of being the landscape an invention of modernity, we in¬voke authors who, explicitly or implicitly, defend or suggest the inseparability between nature and landscape, and the ancestral condition of the aes¬thetic values associated with nature (landscape). Such positioning has direct repercussions in the research and teaching of landscaping in schools of architecture and urbanism, as from it derive both the delimitation of the object to which te¬aching and research turn, as well as the crucial doubt, for architecture and urbanism, about the possibility or not of experiencing landscape in the contemporary urban environment since, presu¬mably, it consummates the total erasure of nature. We are here choosing the affirmative answer based on the hypothesis that the Earth (nature) does not cease to manifest itself and affect us in existen¬tial and aesthetic terms, even in situations where this is considered as unlikely. This hypothesis is supported by the research on hidden streams in São Paulo and its remains, which has been carried out since 2003 under the Laboratory of Landsca¬pe, Art and Culture - Labparc, Fau-Usp. If, howe¬ver obliterated, nature emits signs that touch us, it is possible to give them landscape expression, even in adverse conditions. For these expressions not to be limited to simulacra and stereotypes, it is proposed to recover the freshness of the first manifestations, resorting to the poetic instigations of the material imagination.
