No presente trabalho, estudou-se o desbravamento das terras incultas (cuja história foi tratada na revisão bibliográfica) pelo desmatamento mecânico com lâmina Rome K/G e com o correntão. Antes das experiências de campo, procedeu-se à fabricação de uma maqueta da lâmina, que permitiu realizar o estudo das forças atuantes no corte simples e combinado, realizado pela referida lâmina. No decorrer do trabalho, observou-se, nessas experiências, que o diâmetro é mais importante que a altura da árvore, devido ao tipo de trabalho, e salientaram-se as seguintes qualidades: 1) Opera em qualquer declividade. 2) Não altera o solo. 3) Não requer esforços tratorios intermitentes, precisando evitar choques para não danificar o corte da lâmina. 4) Orienta a queda das árvores, arremessando o material cortado fora da área trabalhada, protegendo também o tratorista. Com relação ao correntão, procurou-se estudar o esforço dinamométrico realizado pelos tratores na derrubada da vegetação, a tração deles e os fatores que influem nesse tipo de prática de desmatamento.

This paper carried out the land clearing on upland woods (whose history was treated on the bibliography references) by the mechanical clearing operation with Rome K/G blade and the anchor chains. Preceding the field experiments, it was made a seale model blade, to study the acting faces on the single and combined cut, made by the proper blade. During the experiments was observed that the diameter of the tree is more important than its height, considering the type of the work. The following qualities must be remarked: 1) Good performance in any declivity. 2) No modification in the soil. 3) No necessity of alternating tractor efforts and must avoid shocks for don’t damage the blade cut. 4) Guide the falling trees, throwing the cut material out of the area, protecting the tractor drive also. In order to use the anchor chain, it was studied the dynamometric effort carried out by the tractors on land clearing. Tractors draft and the agents that have influence in this type of land clearing are also treated.
