Contribution to use of herbicides from the group of the substituted ureas, on the culture of carrots (Daucus carota L.), cultivated variety kuroda
Abstract in English
Of the present experiment was to study comparatively the effect of some herbicides from the group of the substituted ureas, on the culture of carrots (Daucus carota L.), cultivated variety Kuroda. Their effect on harmful weeds and possible translocation in the soil. This experiment was installed in flower beds, in the Experimental Field from the Horticulture Sector of the Escola Superior de Agricultura “Luiz de Queiroz”, University of São Paulo, in Piracicaba. The following herbicides were used: linuron, cloroxuron and clorobromuron, in two degrees of concentration: minimum and maximum dosage of the comercial product. Herbicides were applied on the weeds in pre and post emergence. The treatments were as follows: 0,2g and 04g/m2 of linuron (L1 and L2) 0,2g and 0,3g/m2 of clorobromuron (B1 and B2) 0,6g and 1,0g/m2 of cloroxuron (C1 and C2) L = witness on clean ground S = witness on dirty ground. From the statistical analysis the following conclusions may be drawn: a) The herbicides used in the present experiment, in pre and post emergence, did not reveal translocation in the soil, either on the longitudinal direction, or the transversal direction. b) The most efficient treatment and the one that showed best return was the pre-emergence one. c) The maximum dosage in post-emergence interfered in the normal development of the carrot. Thus, the production was reduced. d) The most efficient weed control, and the one that showed best return, either in pre-emergence or post-emergence, proved to be the one with the herbicide linuron. Also proved to be efficient results with the herbicide clorobromuron. The least efficient was the herbicide cloroxuron, using 0,6g/m2.
