Abstract in English
The present experiment was conducted in the greenhouse adjoining the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture of the Superior School of Agriculture “Luiz do Queiroz” - of São Paulo University (U.S.P.) with the following objectives. a) to compare the herbicide effect of Propanil doses on rice cultures, applied alone and mixed with the insecticide Folidol Em 60%. b) to determine the most economical proportion of the mixture Propanil - Folidol for efficient herbicida effect. A randomized block design was used with 17 treatments repeated 4 times. Two different temperatures were tested at time of application, The treatments employed were: check; one, two, three and four liters of the active ingredient Propanil per hectare and a mixture of these doses with 120, 240 and 360 cm3 of the Folidol (phosphorized insecticide) per hectare. The effect of the treatments as to their weed control effect was verified by counting the surviving plants as well as by weighing their dry material. For rice such effects were evidenced through injuries caused on the leaves of the plants, the number of tillers 40 days following emergency, time of inflorescence, height of plants, number of panicles produced as well as grain production. The analysis and interpretation of the data thus obtained, led to the following conclusions: the mixtures of Propanil Folidol proved efficient for weed control causing, however, injuries on the rice plants whenevor closes over 2,0 liters of active ingredient per hectare of Propanil in the mixtures were employed; the best control of barnyard grass was obtained by applying treatments in an ambient temperature of 17,0°C; a mixture of 2,0 liters of active ingredient per hectare of Propanil with 240 cm3 of active ingredient per hectare of Folidol was considered as being the most economical.
