MÉTODO DE HENDERSON
Title in English
Hendersons methods for variance components of unbalanced data
Abstract in English
The present work discusses about some tecniques for variance components estimation for unbalanced data. Henderson's Methods (1953) were studied, more specificaly the Analysis of variance Method (first Hendersons Method), Adjusting for bias in Mixed Models (second Hendersons Method) and Fitting Constants Method (third Hendersons Method). The theoretical development was done from the general linear model, and the results obtained were valid for any linear model. Numerical ilustration with two or three factors of classification were presented with all the details. The first method should be used only for randon models and it is a generalization of the usual analysis of variance method of balanced data. The second method is used for mixed models with no interaction including randon and fixed effects and any type of nesting including randon and fixed effects. The third method, for mixed models and randon, despite of its good applicability, involves large matrices manipulations.
