O trabalho teve como objetivo realizar uma constatação empírica das diferenças no grau de modernização tecnológica da agricultura, entre as regiões Nordeste e Sudeste do Brasil. Os dados são basicamente os dos censos agropecuários estaduais de 1975, 1980 e 1985, do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística - IBGE; e os estratos de área dos estabelecimentos agrícolas foram as unidades básicas para observação dos resultados. O desenvolvimento da pesquisa teve como principais itens para a avaliação da modernização tecnológica, os seguintes: composição da produção agropecuária; utilização de insumos modernos não mecânicos (adubos, sementes, etc...); produtividade dos fatores de produção terra e trabalho, composição do capital fixo e suas taxas de crescimento, incluindo a questão do crédito rural governamental. Os resultados obtidos permitiram, entre muitas conclusões, concluir que no período avaliado, as diferenças no grau de modernização tecnológica da agricultura, entre ambas as regiões, permaneceram com “desvantagens” para o Nordeste, após o chamado “milagre” econômico brasileiro.

The work had as a goal to realize an empirical confirmation of the differences on grades of technological modernization of the agriculture, between Northeast and Southeast regions of Brazil. The datas are basically from the agricultural and cattle raising state census of 1975, 1980 and 1985, from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistic - IBGE; and the stratum of the areas of the stablishments were the basic units to observe the results. The development of the survey had as mainly items to the evaluation of the technological modernization, the following: composition of the agricultural and cattle raising production; utilization of no mechanics modern inputs (fertilizer, seeds, etc...); productivity of the factors of land and work production, composition of the stationary capital and its increasing rates; including the question of governmental rural credit. The results acquired allowed us, among many conclusions, to deduce that in the period estimated, the differences on grade of technological modernization of the agriculture, between both regions, remained with "disadvantages" to Northeast, after what we called the Brazilian economic "miracle".
