O presente trabalho teve por finalidade estudar os efeitos de boro, em algumas características agroindustriais das variedades IAC 48-65 e IAC 50-14, cultivadas em Terra Roxa Estruturada, em Igaraçu do Tietê (SP). As variedades de cana-de-açúcar foram plantadas em outubro de 1972 e colhidas em outubro de 1973 (para ciclo de 12 meses). Foram também plantadas em fevereiro de 1972 e colhidas em outubro de 1973 (para ciclo de 18 meses). Os tratamentos consistiram em doses crescentes de Bórax de 0,10, 20 e 40 kg/ha de Bórax, aplicados via foliar, dois meses após plantio e 0, 20, 40 e 80 kg/ha de Bórax aplicados via solo no plantio. Foram obtidos resultados referentes a Brix, Pol, Pureza, Porcentagem de açúcar de cana, Produção de Colmos e Açúcar de cana. Da análise dos resultados obtidos, podem-se destacar as seguintes conclusões: 1 - Efeito significativo do boro para Brix em cana de ano com aplicação de 10 kg/ha via foliar. Em cana de ano e meio não se verificou efeito dos tratamentos. 2 - Efeito significativo do boro sobre Pol em cana de ano com aplicação de 10 kg/ha via foliar. Em cana de ano e meio só ocorreram diferenças entre variedades. 3 - Para pureza só foram encontradas diferenças entre variedades, com a IAC 48-65 superando a IAC 50-14. 4 - Efeito significativo do boro sobre a Porcentagem de Açúcar Provável com aplicação de 10 kg/ha via foliar e 20 kg/ha via solo. Em cana de ano e meio só ocorreram significâncias entre variedades. 5 - Para Produção não houveram diferenças em cana de ano, tanto para tratamentos como para variedades. Em cana de ano e meio, verificou-se significância para o tratamento 40 kg/ha via solo e Testemunha sobre o tratamento 80 kg/ha via solo. As variedades não diferiram entre si. 6 - Não foi verificado efeito para produção de açúcar em cana de ano. Em cana de ano e meio, a variedade IAC 48-65 sobrepujou significativamente a IAC 50-14.

The aim of this work was to study the effects of boron on some agroindustrial characteristic of varieties IAC 48-65 and IAC 50-14 cultivated in Terra Roxa Estruturada in Igaraçu do Tietê, São Paulo, Brazil. The sugarcane varieties were planted in october 1972 and harvested in october 1973 (12 months plant cycle) There were also planted in february 1972 and harvested in october 1973 (18 months plant cycle). The following rates of Borax were: 0, 10, 20 and 40 kg/ha which were applied in the leaves after planting, and 0, 20, 40 and 80 kg/ha applied in the soil at planting. From the results, the following conclusion can be drawn: 1 - It has been found a significat effect of boron on Brix of the sugarcane varieties with plant cycle of 12 months, with the spraying of 10 kg/ha of Bórax, There were no effects on the sugarcane plant of 18 months cycle. 2 - Significant effect of boron on Pol of the sugarcane varieties with plant cycle of 12 months, with the spraying of 10 kg/ha of Bórax. The variety IAC 48-65 showed as higher Pol percentage than the variety IAC 50-14 on the sugarcane plant of 18 months cycle. 3 - In relation to Purity, the variety IAC 48-65 showed a higher Purity percentage than the variety IAC 50-14. 4 - There was a significant effect of boron on the sugar percentage with the foliar application of 10 kg/ha Bórax and with the soil application of 20 kg/ha. The sugarcane variety IAC 48-65 plant of 18 months cycle showed a higher sugar percentage. 5 - There was no difference in cane yield between varieties and tratments with plant of 12 months cycle. 6 - There was no effect in the sugar yield in both varieties plant of 12 months cycle, but with the varieties of 18 months cycle the sugar yield of the variety IAC 48-65 was than the variety IAC 50-14.
