Esta dissertação estuda a difusão da Arquitetura Moderna no Brasil, tendo como caso específico, as obras do arquiteto João Jorge Coury na cidade de Uberlândia. Procura no desenvolvimento da dissertação traçar a trajetória do arquiteto desde a sua formação às últimas obras por ele projetadas e ou edificadas. Analisa o contexto histórico e de vanguardas em Belo Horizonte na década de 30, através da constatação da presença de literatos, artistas e intelectuais, e comenta sobre a Exposição Bar Brasil de 1936, também denominada de Semana de Arte Moderna mineira. Reúne uma documentação sobre a criação da Escola de Arquitetura em Belo Horizonte, currículo, corpo docente e outras atividades dos estudantes como a fundação do Diretório Acadêmico e a publicação da revista "Arquitetura". O objetivo deste trabalho está centrado em João Jorge Coury, como vetor da difusão da Arquitetura Moderna na cidade de Uberlândia

This dissertation studies the dissemination of Modem Architecture in Brazil, taking as specific case the works of the architect João Jorge Coury in the city of Uberlândia. Its development endeavors to trace the trajectory of the architect from his formation to his last works, both designed and edified. It analyzes the historical and vanguard contexts in Belo Horizonte in the 30's, by evidencing the presence of scholars, artists and intellectuals, and comments on the Bar Brazil Exhibition of 1936, also known as the Modem Art of Minas Week. It assembles documentation on the creation of the School of Architecture in Belo Horizonte, course program, faculty, and other activities of the students such as the foundation of the Student Association and the publication ofthe "Arquitetura'" magazine. The object of this work is centered on João Jorge Couiy as vector of the dissemination of Modern Architecture in the city of Uberlândia.
