O objetivo dessa dissertação é despertar o interesse do leitor pela conservação de energia através do ponto de vista poético de uma nova estética contemporânea. Nesse sentido caracterizou-se, em um primeiro momento, as evoluções tecnológicas que têm influenciado muitos arquitetos e artistas contemporâneos, bem como as atuais técnicas de conforto ambiental e economia de energia - com a apresentação sucinta de alguns dos novíssimos materiais vítreos que, dependendo da latitude, orientação e sistema construtivo, podem ser tão energicamente eficientes quanto os tradicionais materiais opacos que têm dado bons resultados. Para exemplificar os conceitos levantados na primeira parte do trabalho, em um segundo momento, é fechada a discussão com a leitura de parte da obra do arquiteto francês Jean Nouvel, tomando como exemplo o Instituto do Mundo Árabe de Paris. Nessa leitura foi possível estabelecer os vínculos do arquiteto com a produção de imagens, transformando a pele do edifício em anteparos de informações que conectam o obesrvador a outras realidades. Os conceitos de Jean Nouvel estão muito relacionados com a produção vítrea e introduzem um campo de investigação estética através do qual se pode aprender a técnica de conforto ambiental observando a contribuição do arquiteto na evolução dos materiais e sistemas construtivos de seu tempo

The objective of this dissertation isto awake the interest of the reader for the conservation of energy through the poetical point of view of a new contemporary esthetics. In this direction it was characterized, at a first moment, the technological evolutions that have influenced many architects and artists contemporaries, as well as the current techniques of ambient comfort and economy of energy - with a short presentation of some of the latest glass materiais that, depending on the latitude, orientation and constructive system, can be so efficient as the traditional opaque materiais, given good results. To exemplify the concepts considerated in the first part of this work, in a second momen~ the discussion is closed with the reading of part of the work of the French architect Jean Nouvel, taking as example the lnstitute of the Arab World of Paris. In this reading was possible to establish the bonds of the architect with the production of pictures, transforming the buildin's skin into rampart of informa- tion that connect the observer to other realities. The concepts of Jean Nouvel are very related with the glass production and introduce a field of esthetics inquiry through which if it can learn the technique of ambient comfort observing the contribution of the architect in the evolution of the materiais and constructive systems of its time.
