Keywords in Portuguese
calçados
indústrias
planejamento territorial urbano

Abstract in English
The author has done a study that checks, from the very settlement of Franca, the bases in which the town urban evolution has proceeded, seen from the arising of the shoe and leather industry , and develops his reflections using the changing of work processes ind the making of shoes and their influence in industrial architecture. The set referring table expresses the industrialization and its ways with the approac h that CANO, Wilson, and SINGER , Paul , have been giving to this phenomenon, including the substitution of importation , coffee and railroad and the creation of an inner market , which let Franca become , by its privileged geografic situation, shoe producer in large amount. The study still shows that the fordism and taylorism which were from the decade of the twenties ahead , to the processes of work, will be reflected in the production of the constructed space, taking the standardization of shoe products to the very industrial architecture, and rescuing, through mapes and photos , the physical transformation of the town of Franca by the shoe industry expansion , becoming a historical record of the process of capitalist accumulation under the perspective of the space transformatíon worked in the urban area, until the beginning of the eighties.T
