Este trabalho trata de um tipo de estaca escavada de pequeno diâmetro (máximo de 45 cm) conhecida por Estaca Rotativa-Injetada, a qual tem sido projetada e executada em centenas de obras de pequeno a médio porte (edifícios, pontes, silos, etc.) em alguns estados do norte e nordeste brasileiro. São apresentados alguns detalhes quanto a sua aplicaçào, execução e desempenho, e propõe-se uma formulaçào para a previsão da capacidade de carga desse tipo de estaca conhecendo-se, apenas, os dados fornecidos pelos perfis de sondagens com SPT. Dentre suas peculiaridades, mostra-se, por exemplo, que em terrenos onde ocorrem camadas intercaladas de areias fofas, o fuste da estaca Rotativa-Injetada sofre um aumento gradativo de diâmetro (da ordem de 30%). Além disso, são efetuados intencionalmente alargamentos de fuste ("bulbos") em profundidades previamente escolhidas nos estratos mais densos. No cálculo da capacidade de carga estes dois aspectos (aumento natural e alargamento intencional do diâmetro) são levados em conta, através de uma formulação que se constitui numa adaptação do método Decourt-Quaresma (1978). A metodologia de cálculo proposta é confrontada com 25 provas de carga realizadas nas cidades de Aracaju, Maceió e Recife e na observação do bom comportamento de obras assentes sobre essas estacas ao longo dos últimos 10 anos

This work deals with a new type of small diameter drilled pile (maximum of 45 em) known as ''Rotative-Injected Pile". It has been designed and used in many plants in the North and Northeastem states of Brazil. Some aspects of their applicability, behavior and construction peculiarities are presented and discussed. As far as construction is concemed in looser layers of sand the constructive method gives rise to pile shaft enlargement. In addition, shaft can be intentionally enlarged in dense sand (bulb effect) in order to improve pile bearing capacity. Bearing capacity has been calculated using a variation ofDécourt-Quaresma Method and uses solely SPT data. Variations on shaft diameter in loose sand or enlargement (bulb effect), imposed at specific depths in dense soil are taken into account. The reliability of the proposed method is verified using data from 25 pile load tests performed at the cities of Aracaju, Maceió and Recife and past experience of pile behavior during the last ten years.
