Abstract in English
The use of geotextile above the conduit and in the lateral prisms of soil next to the conduit can minimize the vertical stress on the structure and reduces functional problems such as partial pipe ruptures and distortions. This work presents results of a series of eight tests performed at the experimental field at Department of Civil Engineering of University Federal of Viçosa (UFV) using rigid PVC conduits, 200mm diameter, in which the benefit the geotêxtil inclusions was evaluated. The reinforcement presented a better performance for a sheet of 60 cm width located at 10 cm above the structure, reducing the vertical stress in 60% and deflexions in 50% when compared to the unreinforced condition. Besides, the conduit failure load increased 45%, confirming the benefit of the reinforcement on the performance of the soil - conduit system.
