A microscopia óptica desponta hoje como uma área de instrumentação extremamente importante, dada a demanda existente por esta técnica em diferentes setores. Devido a este fato e tendo como base o microscópio OTI-1 já existente, este trabalho propõe a utilização do granito sintético como principal material estrutural do microscópio. No presente trabalho são expostos a metodologia e técnicas de projeto para a aplicação do granito sintético em estruturas de equipamentos de precisão de pequeno porte. São apresentadas e discutidas técnicas de projeto de moldes e peças de granito sintético, bem como a metodologia utilizada no processamento do material. Este trabalho destaca a importância de ferramentas de projeto como CAD, CAE, DFA e FMEA, na concepção, estudo e análise de um projeto desta natureza

The optical microscopy is nowadays an important instrumental area to the high demand for this technique in almost all technology fields. Due to this fact and based on the existing microscope OTI-1, this work proposes the use of polymer concrete as an option for its structure. This work presents the design techniques and the methodology for the polymer concrete application in precision equipments of small sizes. The design techniques for moulds and polymer concrete parts are introduced and discussed as well as the methodology for the material processing. The work highlight the importance of the design tools as CAD, CAE, DFA and FMEA used in investigations and design analysis of this kind.
