Abstract in English
The purpose of this work was to study the wood cutting performance, through the kink of ship formation and the respective cutting force measured. In the same time, to record the acoustic emission signal and obtainíng the relation between the signa! and the better cutting situations. Were made theoretical studies about wood cutting, wood cutting force measurements and acoustic emission monitoring and applications. Experimentally some samples of Araucária Angustifolia (Pinho do Paraná) wood specie were cutting using a shaping machine and a data acquisitive system for the cutting force and acoustic emission signal registration. The samples were air dried and the tool had rake angle fixed in 10°, 17° and 24° with cutting tickness ranging 0,1 to 0,4mm, each 0,1mm. The results made possible identify the cutting situations that showed better cutting process performance with relation the acoustic emission data obtained.
