Abstract in Portuguese
Inicialmente é feito um levantamento bibliográfico sobre o "Movimento de Fluídos Condutores submetidos à Influência de Campos Eletromagnéticos". Em seguida, optou-se pela água do mar como fluído de trabalho e a formulação físico-matemática baseada no modelo magnetohidrodinâmico de líquidos fracamente condutores submetidos à influência de campos eletromagnéticos externos. O sistema de equações, pelas simplificações impostas, acaba resultando em uma equação diferencial linear com solução analítica compatível com a realidade do problema. A distribuição da velocidade e da pressão no volume do fluido sob estudo são deduzidas. Posteriormente, montou-se um experimento para gerar o vórtice M.H.D. com a realização de medida de grandezas físicas de interesse, por exemplo, tensão-corrente, velocidade angular de rotação, condutividade, temperatura, etc

A review of the bibliography under the title, "the Movement of Fluid Conductors under the Influence of Electromagnetic Fields", is presented. Sea water was crosen as the working fluíd accompanied by physical-mathematical formulation based on the magnetohydrodynamic model for weakly conducing liquids submitted to external fields. The system of equation under the imposed simplifications resulteed in the definition of a differential linear equation with an analytical solution which is compatible with the reality of the problem. The tangential velocíty distribution and pressure were deduced. An experiment was set-up in which an M.H.D. vortex was generated and measurements of the physical parameters of interest were made, such as: voltage, current, angular velocity, conductivity, temperature, etc.
