As indústrias de curtimento de couro produzem grande quantidade de resíduos sólidos, incluindo os resultantes do tratamento de efluentes. Este trabalho propõe um estudo da utilização, e peças para a construção civil, do lodo ao cromo gerado em uma das linhas de tratamento do Curtume Francouro Ltda, de Franca, SP. As peças foram executadas utilizando-se a técnica de tratamento conhecida como processo de solidificação de resíduos com cimento. As matrizes confeccionadas com o lodo de curtume foram submetidas aos ensaios de lixiviação, solubilização múltipla e resistência mecânica à compressão, com a s idades de 7, 28, 90 e 365 dias, nas proporções de cimento resíduo (em massa) de 5:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 e 1:4. Foram estudados quatro tipos de lodo: lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados, moído; lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados, moído e peneirado; lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados e 250 graus centígrados , moído e o lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados e 250 graus centígrados, moído e peneirado. Utilizou-se também, para o traço 1:1, a impregnação das matrizes com resina poliuretana à base de óleo de mamona. Foram realizados, em algumas amostras, ensaios de Difratometria de Raio X. Os resultados dos ensaios realizados possibilitaram concluir que a solidificação do lodo ao cromo com cimento é técnica viável para controlar a presença de cromo nos extratos lixiviados e solubilizados, principalmente empregando-se o lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados , moído e o lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados , moído e peneirado, para os traços 5:1, 2:1 e 1:1. Os resultados dos ensaios de resistência demonstraram a potencialidade de emprego do lodo ao cromo em peças para a construção civil, obtendo-se resistência de 28 MPa, para os bloquetes confeccionados com lodo seco a 110 graus centígrados , moído, aos 90 dias de cura

The leather tanning industries produce a great quantity of reíüses, including the ones resulting ofthe effluent treatment. This work proposes a study ofthe use of sludge to chromium produced in one ofthe treatment lines ofthe Curtume Francouro Lida, fi-om Franca, SP, in constmction parts in Civil Engmeering. This study adapted the process of solidification of refüses with cement to the treataient of the constmction paris. The matrices made with the tannery sludge were subuútted to tests of leaching, multiple solubilization, and compression strength, with the ages of7, 28, 90, and 365 days in the proportion of refuse-cement (in mass) of 5:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:3, and 1:4. Four types ofsludge were studied: grounded dry sludge at 110 C; grounded and sifted dry sludge at 110°C; grounded dry sludge at 110°C and 250°C; and grounded and sifted dry sludge at HO°C and 250°C. For the 1:1 mixture proportion, the Ímbibition of the matrices wíth polyurethane resin m the basis of castor ou was also used. X-ray dififractometry tests were done in some samples. The results lead to the conclusion that the soüdification of the sludge to chroixiium with cement is a viable teclmique to control the presence of chromium m the leached and solubilized extracts, mainly with the presence ofgrounded dry sludge at 110°C and grounded and sifted dry sludge at 110°C for imxture proportion of 5:1, 2:1, and 1:1. The results of the strength tests demonstrated the usefulness ofthe sludge to chromium usage in construction parts in Civil Engineering. It was obtained the 28 MPa strength for blocks made ofgrounded dry sludge at 110°C, cured at 90 days.
