Abstract in English
The cavitation, under all aspects, its undesirable in flow machines as a rule, provoking consequences as : strutural components erosion, noise, machine behavior alterations, etc. In order to to characterize the conditions in which good liquid "suction" occurs, minimizmg or totally eliminating the effects quoted above, caused by cavitation over pumps and pumping installations, it was introduced the NPSH* concept. The curves of required NPSH, normally versus outflow, are obtained through cavitation tests. There are methodologies in technical pattern to accomplish such test, but these don't be easy to apply, principally in model tests. In this work, one developes an altenative methodology to accomplish the cavitation tests in small sized centrifuge pumps, doing a discussion of the obtained results and arriving to final very good results. It was introduced, too, the term NPSH coefficient and it was applied to some pumps, the results were discussed and its importance was emphasized.
