Programação geométrica

Abstract in English
This dissertation shows the application og Geometric Programming to the problem of gearset design. Some objectives are defined and a model was built for the gearset design. This model was reduced to the standard form of geometric programming to allow the solution of the model by means of this optimization technique. A modified Newton-Raphson algorithm was implemented for the solution of geometric programming problems. Some examples of the application of this algorithm to the solution of the gearset design model are included. At the end a review of publications concerning Geometric Programming and its applications is presented.
