Mechanical properties
Abstract in English
The mechanical properties of a typical brazilian cement-treated crushed stone was studied in this work. The experimental research was conducted in order to define the elastic and strength characteristics of the material. A fatigue model was also proposed. Studies about the effects of moisture content on the mixture were performed. The validity of the AASHTOs equivalent single axle load factors is discussed and a methodology for computing these parameters, based on the fatigue criteria, is presented. A semi-theoretical model for verifying semi-rigid pavements structures containing the cement-bounded material studied is also presented, based on both the elastic theory and the fatigue criteria. The Brazilian standards for the cement-treated crushed stone were revised and necessary changes were proposed to reach high quality performance cement-stabilized layers.
