Ao desenvolver estratégias ou promover a divulgação científica, busca-se entender o público-alvo e o meio pelo qual se dará a comunicação e divulgação dos resultados de pesquisas científicas. No entanto, em áreas com histórico de conflitos sociais, surgem questionamentos sobre como aproximar comunidades locais da comunidade acadêmica, além de valorizar os saberes tradicionais junto ao científico. A busca por aproximação e desenvolvimento de estratégias de divulgação científica a que essa pesquisa se propôs, está inserida nas comunidades da Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) e Parque Nacional Cavernas do Peruaçu (PNCP), no norte de Minas Gerais. Diante das singularidades do local e das pessoas, optamos por conhecer nosso público por meio de entrevistas e oficinas com metodologias participativas e reforçar a troca de conhecimentos com um cine-debate. Adicionalmente, a fim de entender a maneira como os pesquisadores daquela região percebem e praticam a divulgação científica, aplicamos um questionário aos pesquisadores da APA e PNCP. Com essas atividades, foi possível entender a percepção dos moradores locais em relação às alterações climáticas locais, aos pesquisadores que frequentam a região para realização de pesquisas e às suas expectativas em relação à divulgação destas pesquisas. Neste caso, os moradores das comunidades da APA e PNCP relataram que o nível do rio Peruaçu diminuiu nas últimas décadas, e o período chuvoso está se tornando mais irregular, com prolongados períodos de seca. A relação entre comunidades locais e pesquisadores ainda é incipiente, no entanto, ambas as partes demonstraram um desejo de se aproximar e de participar de atividades de divulgação científica. Esta fase de levantamento do público-alvo e de seus interesses sobre a divulgação científica foi fundamental para direcionar as estratégias de divulgação aos conhecimentos e necessidades das comunidades alcançadas.

When developing strategies or promoting scientific communication, the goal is to understand the target audience and how the results of scientific research will be communicated. However, in areas with a history of social conflicts, questions arise about how to bring local communities closer to the academic community, as well as how to value traditional knowledge alongside scientific knowledge. The search for rapprochement and the development of scientific communication strategies, to which this research belongs, is inserted in the communities of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) and Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park (PNCP), in northern Minas Gerais. Given the uniqueness of the place and the people, we chose to get to know our audience through interviews and workshops using participatory methodologies and to reinforce the exchange of knowledge with a movie debate. Additionally, to understand how researchers in the region perceive and practice science communication, we applied a questionnaire to researchers at the APA and PNCP. Through these activities, we were able to understand local residents' perceptions of local climate change, the researchers who visit the region to carry out research and their expectations regarding the communication of this research. In this case, residents of the APA and PNCP reported that the level of the Peruaçu River has fallen in recent decades, and the rainy season is becoming more irregular, with prolonged periods of drought. The connection between local communities and researchers is still weak, but both part have shown a desire to get closer and participate in scientific dissemination activities. This phase of surveying the target audience and their interests in science communication was fundamental to directing communication strategies adapted to the knowledge and needs of the communities reached.
