Nesta pesquisa, investigamos a temática étnico-racial no ensino de Geografia. Para tanto fizemos uma pesquisa documental da Lei 10.639/03 e das Diretrizes para a Educação das Relações Étnico-Raciais, assim como do Currículo Paulista com a finalidade de analisarmos a forma como tais documentos abordam essa temática em seu texto e investigamos, por meio de entrevistas em caráter aberto, como os(as) professores(as) de Geografia do Ensino Fundamental Anos Finais estão desenvolvendo em suas aulas a temática étnico-racial. Para realizar tais análises partimos do pressuposto de que as relações étnico-raciais no Brasil marcam o espaço e definem suas estruturas, assim, o racismo é estrutural. Verificamos que o Currículo Paulista negligencia o caráter estrutural dessas relações e debate de forma incipiente as desigualdades raciais no território brasileiro. As entrevistas revelaram que na sala de aula alguns docentes têm desenvolvido atividades que evidenciam o caráter opressor das relações étnico-raciais tanto em termos individuais e institucionais como em termos sociais. No entanto, nas entrevistas percebemos que as atividades docentes se voltam com menor frequência para a relação que há entre racismo e capitalismo

In this research, we investigated ethnic-racial themes in Geography teaching. To this end, we carried out documentary research on Lei 10,639/03 and the Diretrizes para a Educação das Relações Étnico-Raciais, as well as the Currículo Paulista with the purpose of analyzing the way in which these documents address this topic in their text. We also investigated, through open interviews, how Geography teachers in Elementary School Final Years are developing ethnic-racial themes in their classes. To carry out such analyzes we start from the assumption that ethnic-racial relations in Brazil mark the space and define its structures, thus, racism is structural. We found that the Currículo Paulista neglects the structural nature of these relationships and only incipiently debates racial inequalities in Brazilian territory. The interviews revealed that in the classroom some teachers have developed activities that highlight the oppressive nature of ethnic-racial relations both in individual and institutional terms and in social terms. However, in the interviews we noticed that teaching activities are less frequently focused on the relationship between racism and capitalism
