Nesta dissertação, conduzimos uma análise crítica do romance 10:04 (2014) de Ben Lerner, sob uma ótica que prioriza a imanência textual e a estrutura formal da obra. O foco reside em discernir a interação entre a narrativa e as contradições engendradas pelo capitalismo, sobretudo na sua atual fase de financeirização. A pesquisa investiga a construção do foco narrativo, a espacialidade e o ponto de vista da obra, destacando inicialmente o princípio de repetição e variação. Além disso, consideramos a transformação de elementos estéticos em bens de consumo como um vetor crucial no fenômeno de reificação, indicando como a estética se entrelaça com a lógica mercantilista e complexifica processos de dominação. As justaposições, tanto episódicas quanto sintáticas, e o emprego de imagens que fomentam o efeito de estranhamento são analisados como mecanismos que revelam um procedimento de montagem. Por conseguinte, este estudo contempla a análise da presença e impacto de forças político-econômicas no âmbito urbano e nos padrões de consumo, assim como na representação de espaços do cotidiano, enfatizando como estes são impregnados pelo princípio de troca e por contradições sociais inerentes. Assim, ancorados nos estudos culturais e no materialismo histórico, buscamos compreender como 10:04 mapeia as determinações do capitalismo, incluindo o processo de estetização, a partir de sua estrutura narrativa. O objetivo é aprofundar o entendimento das interações entre literatura, cultura e as condições materiais da vida contemporânea

In this thesis, we conducted a critical analysis of Ben Lerner's novel 10:04 (2014) through a lens that prioritizes textual immanence and the work's formal structure. The focus lies in discerning the interaction between the narrative and the contradictions engendered by capitalism, particularly in its current phase of financialization. The research investigates the construction of narrative focus, spatiality, and the work's point of view, highlighting initially the principle of repetition and variation. Furthermore, we consider the transformation of aesthetic elements into consumer goods as a critical vector in the phenomenon of reification, indicating how aesthetics intertwine with mercantilist logic and complicate domination processes. The juxtapositions, both episodic and syntactic, and the use of images that foster an effect of estrangement are analyzed as mechanisms that reveal a montage procedure. Consequently, this study contemplates the analysis of the presence and impact of politico-economic forces in the urban realm and consumption patterns, as well as in the representation of everyday spaces, emphasizing how these are permeated by the principle of exchange and inherent social contradictions. Thus, anchored in cultural studies and historical materialism, we seek to understand how 10:04 maps the determinations of capitalism, including the process of aestheticization, from its narrative structure. The aim is to deepen the understanding of the interactions between literature, culture, and the material conditions of contemporary life
