Esta dissertação de mestrado refere-se ao estudo da viabilidade do uso de usina diesel acima de 500 kVA, para fornecimento de energia elétrica aos equipamentos auxiliares elétricos de usinas hidrelétricas no Brasil, como uma alternativa ao uso de único grupo motor diesel- gerador (grupo singelo) que, atualmente, é importado para valores acima de 500 kVA. Assim, baseado em uma análise exemplificativa, pretende-se obter subsídios para se decidir a melhor opção entre importar grupo motor diesel-gerador de grande capacidade ou comprar, no mercado brasileiro, usina diesel (formada por 02, 03 ou mais grupos motor diesel-gerador operando em paralelo), considerando-se os aspectos de preço, instalação, operação e manutenção. E, para maior entendimento deste tema, esta dissertação apresentará um breve conceito de cargas elétricas de uma usina hidrelétrica (incluindo os critérios de classificação de cargas essenciais, de carga permanente, de carga de ponta e de demanda máxima), das classes de potências de grupo motor diesel-gerador e do estado da arte de usina diesel no Brasil. Também, serão apresentados exemplos sobre critérios de cálculo para grupo motor diesel- gerador, exigências de fabricante para unidade hidrogeradora (relativos aos mancais escora / combinado e regulador de velocidade) e de necessidades / critérios do usuário final (companhias produtoras de energia hidrelétrica).

This masters dissertation refers to the feasibility study of using "diesel power plants" over 500 kVA as the energy supply for the auxiliary electrical equipment of hydroelectric power plants in Brazil, as an alternative to the use of single diesel generator sets which, nowadays, is imported for outputs above 500 kVA. Therefore, using an example-based analysis, it is intended to obtain subsidies for allowing one to decide which is the best option: importing a large capacity diesel generator set or buying, in the brazilian market, a diesel power plant (consisting of 2, 3 or more diesel generator sets operating in parallel), considering price, installation, operation and maintenance aspects. Furthermore, for a better understanding, this masters dissertation will present a brief concept of the electrical loads in a hydroelectric power plant (including classification criteria such as essential, permanent, peak and maximum demand), of the output classes of diesel generator sets and of the state-of-the-art of diesel power plants in Brazil. There will also be presented examples of calculation criteria for diesel generator sets, manufacturer demands for the hydroelectric main power unit (related to the combined thrust and guide bearing and turbine governor) and examples of the necessity / criteria of the end user (hydroelectric power producer utilities).
