The processing and availability of access data for works deposited in the BDTD are based on two fundamental principles: broad indexing of the works by global search engines and the integrity of human readership statistics.

1. How to view the statistics

To view the access and download statistics for a work:

1. Go to the page of the desired thesis or dissertation.
2. In the work information menu (on the right-hand side), click the Statistics link.
3. The system will generate charts showing views of the work's page and downloads of its digital file. The data are processed to exclude views and downloads generated by robots or scripts.

2. Access policy for crawlers (robots and bots)

To increase the reach and visibility of the scientific output available here, the portal does not restrict access by automated robots. This includes traditional and academic indexers, such as Google and Bing, as well as AI crawlers focused on collecting data for model training.

This openness is necessary so that the works can be found easily in internet searches, but it generates a massive volume of automated traffic that does not represent reliable data.

3. Log filtering and identification of legitimate access

To mitigate distortions caused by automated traffic, the portal processes its access data. Internal algorithms analyze access patterns to distinguish the behavior of automated systems from human (non-automated) behavior. The data shown through each work's Statistics link are intended to include only legitimate access.
