Guidelines for preparation
The revised, expanded, and modified edition of the "Guidelines for the presentation of USP dissertations and theses" is available online. The work, published in four parts, can be accessed at the USP Open Books Portal, made available by SIBiUSP – USP Integrated Library System. Direct access to each part can also be made through its DOI (Digital Object Identifier):
Guidance for submission and deadlines
The format and deadline for submission must comply with the regulatory deadlines and the requirements established in each Graduate Program's regulations.

Authorization form for publication

Submission of the revised version
The maximum deadline for delivering the revised and final version is 60 (sixty) days from the date of the defense. The revised version must be sent, with the advisor's approval, to the Graduate Office (Article 2 of CoPGr Resolution 6018)
Changing the number of pages of the Thesis or Dissertation is allowed, but without changing the title, even if requested by the examining committee (Article 6 of )
After the established period of 60 (sixty) days, if the corrected Thesis or Dissertation is not sent to the Graduate Office, the originally deposited document (original version of the work) will be sent to the School Library and to USP's Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), becoming publicly available in their public collections. (Article 3 of CoPGr Resolution 6018)
Intellectual Property and guidance on withholding publication
According to CoPGr Resolution 7569:
Artigo 2º - O aluno que tiver interesse em resguardar patentes, direitos autorais e outros direitos, próprios ou alheios, relativos ao seu trabalho, poderá solicitar à Comissão de Pós-Graduação (CPG) de sua Unidade, mediante requerimento
devidamente justificado e anuência de seu orientador, a manutenção, em acervo reservado, da versão integral de sua Dissertação ou Tese na Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da USP.
§ 1º - O pedido previsto no caput deverá ser entregue com a anuência do orientador do aluno no momento do depósito da Dissertação e Tese.
§ 2º - Colhido o parecer de um de seus membros, a CPG analisará o pedido, deferindo-o, se julgar conveniente.
Artigo 3º - Em caso de deferimento do pedido pela CPG, o aluno deverá entregar a versão eletrõnica completa de sua Dissertação ou Tese, acompanhada de uma versão simplificada que contenha apenas o título e o resumo do trabalho.

CoPGr Resolution 7493: Establishes the Graduate Studies Regulations of the University of São Paulo.
CoPGr Resolution 7569: Regulates the maintenance of dissertations and theses in restricted collection at USP's Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.

If you are a faculty member who defended your habilitation thesis at the University of São Paulo, you may make your thesis fully available in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations:
- Get the Authorization Form (see the model for completion).
- Fill in the form, print it, and sign it.
- Get the Habilitation Thesis Data Form.
- Fill in the data form and print it.
- Deliver to your library the authorization form, the habilitation thesis data form, and the PDF files (unlocked), and check the procedures for submitting your work.
- Within a few weeks, your thesis will be available in the Digital Library.
