Esta tese apresenta uma visão fenomenológica da experiência de velejar, com foco especial nas mulheres que praticam este esporte. O objetivo principal é compreender como a experiência de velejar é vivida pelas velejadoras. Busca-se observar e analisar o que é experienciado no corpo e como a percepção ocorre. Desenvolve-se um caminho investigativo que persegue a questão: O que velejar permite que as mulheres sejam?. A pesquisa fundamenta-se na fenomenologia, explorando as noções de corpo (MERLEAU-PONTY), imaginação (BACHELARD) e situação da mulher (BEAUVOIR), e dialoga com a fenomenologia crítica contemporânea. Para contextualizar, investiga-se a experiência de velejar, situando o corpo que sente, movimenta e imagina. Além disso, aborda a questão de se é possível realizar uma fenomenologia focada em um grupo específico, explorando a literatura sobre fenomenologia feminista, indicando um caminho de investigação que entrelace o ôntico e o ontológico. Nesse sentido, a partir da noção de horizontes (MERLEAU-PONTY) a tese investiga as especificidades da experiência vivida pelas mulheres, revelando dificuldades e constrangimentos enfrentados pelas velejadoras, sem perder de vista também a experiência potente, prazerosa e vivificante. Assim, enquanto experiência estética, o velejar das mulheres evidencia que o horizonte de constrangimento pode ser diluído conforme as velejadoras são arrebatadas pela comoção poética. A tese oferece descrições fenomenológicas da experiência de velejar, enfatizando as imagens poéticas que emergem durante a navegação. Destaca que percebemos o mundo corporal e simbolicamente, ressaltando a indissociabilidade entre técnica e poética na navegação, argumentando que ambas ampliam a existência das velejadoras. Nesta abordagem, o trabalho busca revelar a potência da vela para as mulheres, que desafiam normas sociais, imaginando e construindo novas possibilidades de existência. Percebe-se que a poética da navegação é o que dá valor à técnica, e que investigar essa poética é essencial para entender as possibilidades ontológicas do esporte. Conclui-se que a prática de velejar desenvolve diferentes sensibilidades e amplia modos de estar no mundo. Reconhecer o dinamismo da imaginação e a presença de anima e animus em todos os seres humanos subverte os estereótipos de gênero e deslegitima argumentos que limitam as possibilidades de existência, especialmente das mulheres e suas interseccionalidades. Assim, a investigação fenomenológica da experiência de velejar abre novos caminhos para a compreensão e valorização do Esporte, da Educação Física e do Lazer para todos e todas

This thesis presents a phenomenological view of the sailing experience, with a special focus on women who practice this sport. The main objective is to understand how the experience of sailing is lived by female sailors. It seeks to observe and analyze what is experienced in the body and how perception occurs. An investigative path is developed that pursues the question: What does sailing allow women to be?. The research is grounded in phenomenology, exploring the notions of body (MERLEAU-PONTY), imagination (BACHELARD), and the situation of women (BEAUVOIR), and engages with contemporary critical phenomenology. To contextualize, it investigates the experience of sailing, situating the body that feels, moves, and imagines. Furthermore, it addresses whether it is possible to conduct a phenomenology focused on a specific group, exploring the literature on feminist phenomenology, indicating an investigative path that intertwines the ontic and the ontological. In this sense, drawing on the notion of horizons (MERLEAU-PONTY), the thesis investigates the specificities of the lived experience of women, revealing the difficulties and constraints faced by female sailors, while also recognizing the powerful, pleasurable, and invigorating experience. Thus, as an aesthetic experience, women's sailing shows that the horizon of constraint can be diluted as sailors are carried away by poetic emotion. The thesis offers phenomenological descriptions of the sailing experience, emphasizing the poetic images that emerge during navigation. It highlights that we perceive the world both bodily and symbolically, emphasizing the inseparability of technique and poetics in navigation, arguing that both expand the existence of female sailors. In this approach, the work aims to reveal the power of sailing for women, who challenge social norms, imagining and constructing new possibilities of existence. It is perceived that the poetics of navigation is what gives value to the technique, and that investigating this poetics is essential to understand the ontological possibilities of the sport. It concludes that the practice of sailing develops different sensibilities and expands ways of being in the world. Recognizing the dynamism of imagination and the presence of anima and animus in all human beings subverts gender stereotypes and delegitimizes arguments that limit possibilities of existence, especially for women and their intersectionalities. Thus, the phenomenological investigation of the sailing experience opens new paths for understanding and valuing Sport, Physical Education, and Leisure for everyone
